In brief, the theory is that the columns on the outer perimeter which was integral to the structure was damaged on impact, this alone did not cause the collapse, but the fire which was fueled by airplane fuel reached much higher temperatures than an office block would be traditionally treated for causing the weakening of the floor trusses, internal core or both resulting in the collapse of floors which gained momentum.
